Inspired by the vibrant, expressive movement of spider mums, this original linocut print bridges classic heritage with contemporary design. The piece draws inspiration from traditional Japanese woodblock prints, reinterpreting the timeless aesthetic through clean, modern linework that captures the lively, organic energy of these iconic flowers.
This Print was hand drawn and handprinted from a linoleum block before applying layers of ink to the surface with a brayer and printing with my press. Each print was individually hand pulled; this means there may be slight textures apparent between the prints showing the unique handmade quality.
Burgundy:
The image measures 6x9" and is printed on a 9x12" sheet of off-white cotton rag paper, leaving a nice 1 1/2" border around the print and a beautiful texture. I printed this in a deep Burgundy red ink. The contrast of the rich red against the warm paper texture turned out beautifully. Limited edition of 30 prints
Dark Blue:
This version is printed in a deep Prussian Blue, creating a calming nocturnal feel. The sun/moon was carved out separately and printed with a shimmering gold printmaking ink on White cotton rag paper. Limited edition of 40 prints.
